Heritage Trail Chapter
The Heritage Trail Chapter works with the City of Portage, Boy
Scouts and local agencies to build and maintain the Trail. The
chapter is called the “Heritage” Trail Chapter because Ice Age Trail segments blend and highlight the area’s cultural, natural and glacial history.
The Ice Age Trail in the chapter’s territory includes the Portage Canal Segment and the Marquette Segment. The Trail crosses through woodlands, wetlands and prairie and features 21 hand-built bridges.
